Required Skills:

• 4+ years of experience in backend PHP development, including experience with both legacy codebases and modern frameworks.
• Proficiency in one or more PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of database architecture, including relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL), and experience with optimisation and troubleshooting database performance issues.
• Experience integrating with and building RESTful APIs and working with tools for API consumption.
• Proficiency in version control systems like Git for collaborative development workflows.
• Understanding of Containerization Tools such as Docker.
• Experience writing and improving Javacript code. Including modern frameworks such as ReactJS and VueJS.
• Familiarity with testing practices and tools (PHPUnit, integration testing, etc.).
• Adept at debugging and troubleshooting issues in production and development environments.
• Knowledge of modern tools and practices such as Composer, dependency management, and automated build tools.

The Person:

• Excellent problem-solving abilities, especially when dealing with legacy systems, undocumented code and debugging production issues.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to team members and stakeholders.
• A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, QA, and DevOps.
• A passion for writing clean, maintainable code with a focus on improving system reliability and maintainability.

What would be an added bonus for you to bring with you?

• Hands-on experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or similar experience with Legacy codebases.
• Strong understanding of modern web technologies such as RESTful APIs, microservices, and serverless architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Excellent understanding SQL and experience with database optimisation.
