My taxi journey started with a chance meeting with the late, great Mark O’Callaghan from VIP Taxis in Dublin. Mark’s Auriga system had gone down because the people who lived above their Cork Street Call Center had left the shower running! I knew Gavan was doing something Taxi in the Cloud, and after a few calls we all got around a table to see the latest shower proofing technology. I will never forget the sharp intake of breath when Niall O’Callaghan showed the VIP team how to set up a zone in less than a 1 minute with all drivers updated. A zone was unknown to me back then but I saw something special and jumped right in.
Roll on 10 years and I am so proud of what iCabbi has achieved. We have built what I believe is the best all round Taxi Booking & Dispatch Platform; and have persuaded over 800 taxi fleets with over 100,000 taxis to put their time, know-how and most importantly trust into us. Over the last few years I got to play my part in extending our global footprint that now includes Ireland, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Holland, and soon Sweden, Denmark and Norway. I consider myself very fortunate, not only in building a global player but also in having a front row seat in watching the Taxi Industry stand up and beat back the competition from all those well funded Tech Disruptors.
I have had many roles in iCabbi. Back when we had no titles I was the Product & Go Live guy, then COO for a few years, before moving into Business Development in 2017. I have very recently taken the role of iCabbi’s Chief Customer Officer and am back doing what I love most; engaging with our customers, getting into what makes their business hum and then making change happen.
Outside of iCabbi I get to spend time in the Wicklow mountains and beaches with my beautiful (and very patient) wife Mouna, Baby boy Zayn, and dogs Bear, Kyky and Lucky. Some of our customers will be familiar with the Jack Russell Lucky, a frequent visitor to our Howth offices.
