iCabbi is delighted to announce its expansion into Brazil through a partnership with the Sao Paolo dispatch software provider Original Software, which currently powers over 10,000 taxi licenses in Brazil. This is in line with iCabbi’s plan to be the global market leader in taxi technology.
Speaking on the announcement CEO Gavan Walsh said “In order to be a healthy company we need to be a growing one, and with the support of Groupe Renault we have very ambitious plans to place taxi companies at the center of mobility in industries across the world. We recognise that in order to do this we need to respect and cater to the local flavor of each market. Experience has taught us well that the taxi industry operates differently across the world, and so our accelerated growth strategy is about finding the right partner to work within each market and allowing them the autonomy to service and grow their region as they see fit.”
Established in 2006, Original Software is based in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and has around 80 customer fleets representing 10,000 licenses. Led by CEO/CTO and Founder Rogerio Casagrande, Original Software will continue to operate as an independent entity, with business as usual for its customer base. Original Software will benefit from knowledge-sharing with the iCabbi R&D team. Their customers will enjoy products that are designed for the local market whilst in line with world-class taxi technology innovation.
As has been the case all over the world, 2020 has been a very difficult year for the taxi industry and society as a whole in Brazil. The team In Original Software rose to the challenge and experienced a dip of just 11% in revenues relative to 2019. This paired with the temporary cost cutting measures they put in place sees them in a strong position to grow in their local market as it pushes out of Covid. Future ambitions include growth across the large taxi markets of the wider Spanish speaking South American market.
iCabbi used CapNua Corporate Finance, Grant Thornton in Dublin, and GT Brazil, and Derraik & Menezes Advogados in Sao Paulo to complete the deal wit Original Software.
