Managing will calls efficiently
Will calls play an important role in NEMT because they provide the flexibility that scheduled rides cannot. Members often rely on will-calls when appointment times change or when treatments such as dialysis or chemotherapy end earlier or later than expected. While this flexibility helps ensure members don’t miss critical care, it also requires dispatch teams to balance real-time demand with available drivers.
In this episode of Solved, Hannah Greene, Product Manager at Move AI, explains how Move AI helps NEMT providers manage will-call trips more efficiently.
Using the Wait and Return feature, Move AI automatically adds a wait time during planning for shorter appointments. This allows the same driver to remain on site and complete the return trip when the appointment ends.
When waiting is not practical, our system will instead assign the return trip to a nearby driver. This reduces last-minute dispatch adjustments, minimizes dead miles, and helps members get home sooner.
