Lee Nealen joins iCabbi Taxi Alliance: Quickfire Q+A

Apr 4, 2024

by Sarah Ryan

Lee Nealen has recently joined the iCabbi Taxi Alliance Business Development team in the UK. We’re delighted to have him on board as he brings a wealth of experience in the taxi and private hire sector to iCabbi. Now that he has been with us a month or so, we thought it would be a good time to find out what Lee’s first impressions of iCabbi are and pick his brains on what matters to fleets in the UK right now.

Time for a quickfire Q+A with Lee!

Q: How long have you been in the industry?
A: 14 years – 12.5 years with AutoCab and 1.5 years with Cab Card

Q: What is the biggest change you have experienced during your time in the taxi industry?
A: Technology! From radio to PDAs. The integration with multiple platforms, like CMAC. We have seen that maintaining partnerships are more important than ever.

Q: What was your perception of iCabbi before and after you joined?
A: I knew it was a good company to work for and the tech is pretty solid. Since I joined I have found it is a very open and friendly place, everyone has been so welcoming!

Q: What has surprised you about iCabbi?
A: The openness and the availability of people to listen and take on board what the customers are requesting.

Q: What are the biggest challenges impacting fleets in 2024?
A: Legislation and outside companies.

Q: What are the biggest opportunities you see for taxis?
A: Strength in depth. More sharing of work. To take on the ride-hailing apps! The Taxi Alliance has the right framework to do this, so it is exciting to see how a national taxi network can develop.

Q: Why should fleets choose iCabbi?
A: iCabbi is a solid tech platform, which will only get better with the Google integration.

Q: What’s the best thing iCabbi has done recently?
A: Google, for definite. It’s what all the fleets I speak with want to know about. No other competitor has this and it is a really impactful development for the technology stack.

Q: Tell us something we don’t know about you.
A: I am a qualified FA coach.

Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: I have been involved with an amateur football club for over 25 years (63 teams to date!) – from under 9s through to open age.
I am currently semi-retired from coaching but heavily involved with the open age team (always on the lookout for sponsors!)

Thanks Lee, best of luck in your new role at iCabbi and the Taxi Alliance.
